Dr. Chalette Renee Griffin is a Black dystopian writer, publisher, and story coach who founded Williams Hole Publishing to fill a void in the literary world—one where Black speculative and dystopian voices are not just included, but centered.
In a publishing landscape where only 5–7% of authors are Black, and even fewer write in Black Dystopian Speculative Fiction, Dr. Griffin built a platform to reclaim narrative power and spotlight the untold stories of Black imagination, resilience, and freedom.
Williams Hole Publishing exists to amplify underrepresented voices and revolutionize how the African American experience is told through dystopian and speculative fiction.
Dr. Griffin’s mission is simple but radical: to use storytelling as both resistance and liberation—creating worlds that challenge power, question democracy, and envision the futures we deserve.
Through her Substack, InkRebellion, Dr. Griffin publishes cultural and political editorials that confront systemic racism, social decay, and the cost of speaking truth in America.
Some of her most-read essays include:
These essays reflect her belief that fiction and political commentary are two sides of the same fight—the struggle to awaken, imagine, and reclaim.
More than a publishing house, Williams Hole Publishing is a movement. Under Dr. Griffin’s leadership, it serves as both a creative sanctuary and a platform for change—where Black writers are not waiting for permission to be seen, but defining their own place in the future of literature.
